The Ostrołęka Culture Center
responds to cultural needs of Ostrołęka dwellers, creates conditions for activities of amateur art movement; it also promotes contemporary visual and film arts and popularizes the highest values of the Kurpie Region’s cultural achievements.

  • Art Education – over 600 people, including children, youth, adults and seniors, take part in activities of art movement teams and groups. The OCC is the home of dance, vocal, theatrical, art, film, photography groups and the University of the Third Age. Art Education enjoys the greatest popularity. The Art Galley is the place where photography, drawing, painting, paper folding, decoupage, batique, and general art-skills developing workshops are held. There are also art classes fro children and youth from Ostrołęka’s primary and secondary schools.
  • The Cinema – here operates the Film Education Academy which comprises over 5 thousand pupils from Ostrołęka’s schools. The cinema has two rooms offering various repertoire and equipped with digital devices that enable to project films using the 3D technique. Thanks to it, the cinema is an attractive alternative of spending spare time. The Film Discussion Club that operates here also guarantees access to less commercial films and gathers more demanding film-fans.
  • The „Ostrołęka” Art Gallery presents contemporary art exhibitions, and in the Gallery’s hall there has been photography and poster exhibitions organized for many years. In summer the Gallery goes open air reaching with its offer those who do not have the habit of visiting places of culture. The municipal space is where open air exhibitions are organized along with the June Art Festival. The Gallery also uses other places for its exhibitions, where it searches for a wider circle of recipients.
  • Kultownia operates in the industrial part of the city. Its main focus is on art classes offered mainly to children and youth; the classes, apart from their educational value, also provides care operating like a day-care room. Local activity accounts for an important part of the Ostrołęka Culture Center’s work.

Regular all-Poland level events organized by the OCC include:
  • Ostrołęka Cabaret Song Encounters OSPA
  • ‘A Gold Garter’ – the all-Poland Ball-Room Dance Contest
  • ‘Film Mirrors’ – an all-Poland Amateur Film Festival
  • The Final of the all-Poland Reciting Contest
  • ‘A NEEDLE’ – an all-Poland Small Theatres Festival
  • The ‘Street InQbator’ Theatre Festival – presents shows of Polish and foreign street theatres.

The Ostrołęka Self-government supports the OCC’s cultural activities co-financing three series of events:
  • ‘Family Hours’ – it’s an offer targeting families with children that consists in organizing monthly puppet theatre shows. The attractive repertoire and token ticket prices has made this offer everlastingly popular among the youngest city dwellers for years.
  • ‘Moods for Twos’ is a series of events addressed to adults; once a month high artistic value theatre shows, concerts or dance shows are held. And again, it’s the nominal ticket price that makes this offer attractive, which is possible thanks to the local self-government’s co-financing.
  • ‘Encounters with Music’ held in the presence of Polish philharmonic orchestra players; the OCC provides secondary school students with rudimentary knowledge of music forms, music history, composers and instruments.
